STEVEN FIELDS - LEGALIZE HEROIN 7" (1988)

Most people reading this will know Iron Curtain's music, and that it is highly collectible. This is Iron Curtain founder's one and only release from 1988, a single sided 7" entitled 'Legalize Heroin'. Make of that what you will.

Not totally unlike Iron Curtain's work, but lighter.

VISIONS OF DOMINO - A GREY DAY / SOMETHING STRANGE 7" (1993)

Reasonable cold wave from Germany, curiously named after a lesser known T-Rex track.

Much more akin to late eighties French cold pop a la Little Nemo / Paralleles De Montsegur, than other German underground bands from that period.

Very little (i.e. 'no') information about them other than this release.

FASHIONABLE LIVING DEATH - WHITE PLASTIC NIGHTMARE K7 (1991)

Going back to the first post on this blog in September, there was a huge amount of positive response to the work of Fashionable Living Death, and following on from that this is a posting of some of their best work, the White Plastic Nightmare tape.

Released in limited quantities in 1991, it highlights a different side to the band, more complex and realised than some of their earlier recordings, TV Prometheus and White Plastic Nightmare particularly standing out as strong tracks for me personally.

I have said this before, and will inevitably say it again, as I think it's the only fair thing to do, but drawing comparisons for you is kind of detrimental to your own reactions and enjoyment of the music. My advice is listen yourself and with an open mind. Unless of course you are in the unenviable position of having to be tortured by haphazardly 'chancing' upon some of the abyssmal bilge that permeates our contemporary 'pop' culture, and my advice there is just at least attempt to murder it with a stick of some description. And its perpetrators and audience.

Side A:

- Brand New Blindfold
- White Plastic Nightmare
- TV Prometheus

Side B:

VARIOUS ARTISTS - VERY UNJUST

Now to all this the Roman Catholic Church consents tacitly, many of her writers avowing it publicly. And, unable to deny the flagrant “borrowing” of their Church, who “spoilt” the symbols of her seniors, as the Jews had “spoilt” the Egyptians of their jewels of silver and gold, they explain the fact quite coolly and as seriously.

Thus the writers who were hitherto timid enough to see, in this repetition by Christian dogmas of old Pagan ideas, “a legendary plagiarism perpetrated by man,” are gravely assured that, far from such a simple solution of the almost perfect resemblance, it has to be attributed to quite another cause: “to a prehistorical plagiarism, of a superhuman origin.”

SA-SHEM - A TALE OF ORDINARY MADNESS K7 (1986)

This is a post for Fritz Die Spinne.

Many thanks to the lovely Mel Spencer and John Adrenochrome for these tracks and the information provided.

Sa-Shem. Another could have been big! Played around the gig circuit in the North East of England during the mid 80's and released just one demo tape 'A Tale Of Ordinary Madness', these tracks also finding their way via an individual called Monk onto a compilation C90 called 'The Idea Part 2'.

An interesting sound which slashes and swoons around with care and precision. I would mention Skeletal Family and early 4AD records but I don't think it's too fair. Oops I already have, oh silly me!

Great great stuff.

BOSSA LUCE - DOUX TOURTURE EP

Shrouded in difficulty, perversity and self cultivated but haphazard mystique, purposely, and reticent to the brink of isolationism, Bossa Luce is and will inevitably always be a veritable enigma. More waywardly obscure than any of the artists on the Galakthorroe label, which superficially Bossa Luce at least shares 'something' with, this is even more wilfully / gleefully difficult and has thus more in common with VISA bands of the early 80's such as Les Maitres and early Die Bunker.

Based in Italy, and essentially a one man project now, this captures the brutality, humour and surrealism of possibly the most innovative musical artist around today / yesterday.

I have little else to work with here, so shall defer.
