ROSEGARDEN FUNERAL - EARLY DEMO (1986)

This one gives me great great pleasure to post. Out of all the bands from this period, perhaps Rosegarden Funeral remained the most mysterious. A Yorkshire phenomenon, from the last wave of first generation British Goth, serious, excellent, and literally, previously totally unknown ... but remembered with fondness. Often for many too damn gloomy and real for their own good, they dissolved before the tedious 'Goth wars' of the 1990's and retreated gracefully.

I can't really go into too many details here. As I said the band were not just shrouded in smoke, but also mystery ha ha! Just listen ....

Rosegarden Funeral - Demo

Track-listing :

Vendetta
Acid Valentine
Angel
Hollow Heart

(Self released. 1986?)

Huge and unreserved thanks to fellow obsessive Greta for these. xxx

  1. Once I'm home I'm going to be taking this in intravenously!
    Been waiting for that!

Hadn't you posted something else from Rosegarden Funeral or am I getting mixed up again?

  2. I posted some extracts from their rather lavish lyrics book The Book Of Dead Names.

  3. Hmmm.
Only Acid Valentine seemed to work when I unzipped. It's a good track, so I'll try again.

This is what I was doing back in 1986...some goth touches for sure.

  5. M & M,

Haven't had a chance yet, but I am sure another download will fix things.

Everything seems to be working over at the internet archive for my stuff.

Were you trying to get the zipped mp3's or FLAC files?

  6. I was trying to get the zipped files. I got a bit baffled by science I think.

  11. Howdy...

    I figured out the issue.

After you unzip, just change the file names making sure there is not a space between the "." and "mp3" and the tracks will work fine.

E.G., change ". Hollow Heart. mp3" to "Hollow Heart.mp3" and things should work.

Of course all credits goes to you and to your great blog.
Again, I'm really sorry and I hope you're not offended.
    Thanks again for the tape.
